Chesslings is a chess learning game made for children, published by mrbooz AB. We designed it to be safe and private. This policy explains what information the app handles and why.
Chesslings has no user accounts, no sign-in, no chat and no ads. We do not collect names, email addresses, photos, contacts or precise location, and we never collect or use advertising identifiers. The hero name your child types stays on the device and is never sent anywhere.
Your child's progress (levels, stars, gems and settings) is saved only on the device, in local app storage. You can erase it at any time from Settings → Grown-ups → Delete progress.
On Android, Chesslings uses Google Analytics for Firebase to count how the app is used, so we can see which lessons are too hard, where players stop, and whether the Chesslings Club offer is clear. It records events such as "a quest was completed", "a screen was opened" or "the Club page was shown", together with basic technical details: app version, device model, operating system version, country (derived by Google, IP addresses are not stored) and a random app-instance identifier that is reset if the app is reinstalled.
The iOS version of Chesslings does not include any analytics.
Chesslings is directed to children and is built to comply with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the EU GDPR protections for children. We do not collect personal information from children. The anonymous usage statistics above are used only to support and improve the app's own operation, never for advertising or behavioural profiling. Parents can turn them off in the app, or contact us to ask questions about the data.
Optional purchases and subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We never see or receive payment card details. Chesslings Club subscriptions may start with a free trial; you will not be charged if you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends. A parental gate (a multiplication question) is shown before any purchase. You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your App Store or Google Play account.
If a grown-up turns on optional streak reminders, the app schedules a gentle local notification on the device. These are local only — no data is sent to a server, and you can turn them off anytime in Settings.
Purchases are handled by Google Play or the App Store. On Android, anonymous usage statistics are processed by Google (Firebase) as described above. There are no other third-party SDKs that collect data, and the game plays fully offline.
